Web Development

Web Development

Description (General Overview)

Master the art of building modern, dynamic, and database-driven web applications from scratch. This comprehensive course is designed to take you from a complete beginner to a confident, job-ready Full-Stack Web Developer.

You will start by mastering the core building blocks of the front-end using HTML5, CSS3, and Bootstrap 5 to design stunning, fully responsive user interfaces. Next, you will bring your web pages to life with JavaScript, learning how to add interactivity, handle events, and manipulate the DOM.

Moving to the back-end, you will dive into PHP and MySQL to build secure, robust server-side applications. You will learn how to handle user authentication, manage relational databases, process forms securely, and execute dynamic CRUD (Create, Read, Update, Delete) operations. By the end of this course, you will have engineered real-world projects and gained the absolute practical skills required to build complete web applications.

Syllabus (Week-by-Week Curriculum)

Outline the week-by-week curriculum...

Phase 1: Front-End Foundations (Weeks 1–4)

  • Week 1: Introduction to Web Architecture & HTML5

    • How the web works (Client-Server architecture, HTTP requests).

    • HTML5 syntax, semantic elements, forms, inputs, and validation.

  • Week 2: Styling with CSS3 & Modern Layouts

    • CSS selectors, box model, typography, and positioning.

    • Creating modern, responsive layouts using Flexbox and CSS Grid.

  • Week 3: Rapid UI Design with Bootstrap 5

    • Integrating Bootstrap via CDN/Local files.

    • Mastering the 12-column grid system for seamless mobile responsiveness.

    • Utilizing Bootstrap utilities, components (navbars, cards, modals, tables, forms).

  • Week 4: Client-Side Scripting with JavaScript (ES6+)

    • Variables, data types, operators, and conditional logic.

    • Functions, arrays, loops, and object manipulation.

    • DOM Selection, event handling, and basic form interactions.

Phase 2: Back-End & Database Development (Weeks 5–8)

  • Week 5: Core PHP Fundamentals

    • Setting up a local development environment (XAMPP/Localhost).

    • PHP syntax, variables, superglobals ($_POST, $_GET, $_SERVER).

    • Control structures, loops, custom functions, and file inclusion (include/require).

  • Week 6: Relational Databases with MySQL

    • Database normalization concepts, primary keys, and foreign keys.

    • Working with phpMyAdmin.

    • Writing SQL queries: Writing INSERT, SELECT (with WHERE, ORDER BY), UPDATE, and DELETE statements.

  • Week 7: Building Dynamic Applications (PHP + MySQL)

    • Connecting PHP to MySQL securely using PDO (PHP Data Objects).

    • Handling user data safely using prepared statements to prevent SQL Injection.

    • Building an end-to-end CRUD system.

  • Week 8: Session Management, Security & Graduation Project

    • Managing user authentication: Login, Registration, and Password Hashing (password_hash).

    • Utilizing PHP Sessions (session_start) to restrict page access and manage user states.

    • Final deployment walkthrough and review of the complete web application.

Prerequisites

What should students know beforehand?

  • No prior coding experience required! This course is built from the ground up specifically for beginners.

  • Basic computer literacy (how to manage files, navigate directories, and use a web browser).

  • A laptop or desktop computer (Windows, macOS, or Linux) with a text editor (e.g., VS Code) and XAMPP installed.

  • A strong desire to learn, experiment, and build logic.

What You'll Learn (Learning Outcomes)

List the core skills/outcomes you will gain...

  • Structure & Style: Write clean, semantic HTML5 markup and style it effectively using modern CSS3 methodologies.

  • Mobile-First Design: Build stunning, fully responsive layouts in fraction of the time using the Bootstrap 5 framework.

  • Interactive Programming: Write core JavaScript code to handle user events, modify web content dynamically, and handle front-end logic.

  • Server-Side Logic: Build dynamic server-side applications using PHP to process forms and control web application behavior.

  • Database Management: Design, structure, normalize, and query MySQL databases confidently to manage relational data efficiently.

  • Secure Coding Operations: Securely connect applications to a database via PDO, safely handle user inputs, prevent SQL injection, and implement secure login/registration workflows with session tracking.
